How durable is the Aspen in challenging weather conditions?
Like all SolidBuild® sheds, the Aspen is constructed from FSC-certified Norway Spruce using 1 3/8" double tongue-and-groove boards. The same species has kept Scandinavian structures standing for over 200 years, and the Aspen is no different — rated to withstand winds up to 75 mph and carry snow loads of up to 20 lbs per sq ft without additional reinforcement. Because the walls are solid wood with no hollow cavities, the structure performs well in minor seismic events too. Paint or polyurethane provides excellent weatherproofing in high-rainfall climates; exterior wood stain works well in drier regions.
Can I turn the Aspen into a year-round livable space?
Yes — the Aspen is well-suited for year-round use with the right preparation. The roof and floor can be insulated: add insulation above the T&G roof boards beneath your chosen roofing material, and place batt or rigid foam between the floor joists before laying flooring. Surface run electrical conduit through the solid wood walls for a heater, mini-split, or powered outlets. The Aspen's 103 sq ft interior makes this investment especially worthwhile, as the space genuinely supports full-time use as a guest cabin, Airbnb, or daily home office.
How long does assembly take, and what tools do I need?
Assembly takes 8–20 hours with two adults and basic tools — mainly a power drill plus standard hand tools. All components are pre-cut; the kit assembles similarly to Scandinavian flat-pack furniture, just at cabin scale. The included manual and video assembly library cover each stage in detail. The Aspen is in stock with free shipping to the contiguous US, expected within 3 weeks. A 1-year limited warranty covers manufacturing and workmanship defects; missing or broken parts are replaced free within 10 business days when reported within 30 days of delivery. Klarna financing is available at checkout. Every purchase plants 25 trees in your name via the Cauvery Calling reforestation movement. The Aspen is built from 100% natural, non-toxic FSC-certified wood — no formaldehyde, no engineered board, no synthetic materials.

All wifi plugs so I can control everything using Alexa or mobile app. I have a dedicated electrical circuit for my minisplit, so have full control over temp. Minisplit works great in here, with one of the smart thermostats, I can control temp from my phone and schedule, so in winter, it turns on about 30 minutes before I need to come in so its not an icebox and summer, it cools down in a few minutes so its never an issue. I have family that comes and stay during the summer and winter and they sleep in here (queen pullout sofa). They love it. One of the best purchase I’ve made in forever.
